In her project work, Dr. Sadia Naznneen Karobi studied the modification of water structure in presence of urea, acetamide, formamide, thiourea and thioacetamide from change in near-infrared (NIR) spectra of water. She also investigated the micellization behavior of a cationic surfactant, cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) in presence of these amides and thioamides by conductometric method and steady state fluorescence quenching method. Her MS thesis work was on the regulation of enzyme activity of lipase by supramolecular interaction between cationic surfactants and cyclodextrins.
