For her MS thesis, Senjuti investigated the degradation kinetics of LEV by colloidal MnO₂ catalyzed by micellar solutions of different surfactants. Colloidal MnO₂ was prepared by the reduction of KMnO₄ by Na₂S₂O₃. Kinetics of the reaction between colloidal MnO₂ and levofloxacin was investigated spectrophotometrically at 400 nm where only colloidal MnO₂ absorbs light, and a comparison of reaction rate in various surfactant media was made.
